Credits Rolling on Blockbuster

Red Theater did it again! What a great time! Thanks to all the new faces and all the great acts last night. Great rock. Great comedy. Just one heck of a good time.

Our next show will be in late October around Halloween. We're considering venues and themes for the evening. Stay tuned!

Tonight is the show!

Very exciting. This show represents the biggest total production surrounding any Red Theater performance. Last night's dress rehearsal was a nice confidence booster. Our movement pieces are tight. Our personal pieces are connected and focused. Solid show.

I was talking with other Red Theater members about how far we've come aesthetically. We've really matured. It used to be that certain pieces in this show would really have us tied up in knots. They would have seemed so controversial or extreme. In contrast, at this point in our creative process, I don't think anyone even flinched in fear. Rather, the entire collective accepted the pieces' shocking parts and analyzed them for their other merits.

I'm proud of this bunch.

PS
MAYBE we get to try the Official Red Theater Ivanna Cone Ice Cream Flavor today?

Blockbuster- the lineup!

Omaha set the bar pretty high. Lincoln responds with one hellava show!
Red Theater Blockbuster has produced THE SUMMER EVENT.
In addition to grill and shot glass specials, we're performing with an extended lineup:

Comedians Will Dougherty and Richard Reese.

Music from Akita Ken's Chris the Whale

And the kick ass band- Hot From Far.

Stack all that upon a Red Theater show that's been the culmination of a summer of bubbling fun.

There is NO WAY you should be able to get all this for a $5 presale ticket! It'll be more at the door.
Go. Do it. Yes.

Thoughts after Red Theater Omaha premiere performance

It's been a little over twelve hours since Red Theater Omaha: Newfangled. I've been asleep for most of them. I wake very proud of what we've accomplished. The creation of a new collective. The proof of financial viability for such a group. The excited, smiling faces of admittedly dubious audience members.

I can't wait to see the pictures and video from the performance. Next up for RTO? Auditions. They group needs to expand for the next show. Please contact Jeremy Short for more information.

RTO about to launch!

I'm very excited about Red Theater Omaha. The group has always had a lot of potential, but until yesterday we were unproven. In the premiere show, RTO has made a lighter, funnier Red Theater than usual. That's not to say they pull their punches! There are plenty of thought-provoking, high energy, interactive, and offensive pieces to go around! It's just a nice mix of cute, fun, energetic people with contagious energy sprinkled amongst the harder-hitting knucklers.
I'm excited to have Akita Ken opening for us and hope there's a great turnout, because this group deserves a hero's welcome!

Join The Revolution!

Red Theater Lincoln is doing a (wet hot american) SUMMER SHOW!

But to do it, we're gonna need a few amazing people to add to our cast while half of us take off for our summer reprieve.

Hence, AUDITIONS! Our lovely ladies Sydney Ray and Emily Martinez have been appointed our casting directors. Here's the official notice, shamelessly ripped from the Omaha notice, which was shamelessly ripped from previous Lincoln notices:

What Do I Need To Bring?
an ORIGINAL performance written by YOU.
it can have props, perform a monologue, be interactive, physical, musical, whatever.
what makes you "you"? what's important to you?
in a positive, funny, tragic, or beautiful way?
it doesn't have to be epic.
you can perform about ANYTHING.
as long as YOU wrote it.
we are not looking for awesome actors but rather awesome PEOPLE.

How?
Auditions will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Where?
Nu Vibe Downtown (126 N. 14th Street, next to Open Market)

When?
Saturday May 22nd
7 - 10 pm

What to do for the audition?
Please prepare a one minute original audition focusing on the personal and theatrical.

When is the next show?
Auditionees will be accepted into Red Theater for all future performances, but availability for our next performance on July 16th is a must.

What if I can't make this audition?
Please contact us at sydneyray@gmail.com or emartinez26@live.com to see about other arrangements.

Hey Omahans. Omahams? People of Omaha.

Surely you are all itching to see our new show Wednesday night, and frankly I can't blame you. I can, however, suggest a mild calamine lotion that would take care of that. The itchiness, not the frantic need to be at The Bourbon Theatre at 8:30PM with a ticket or $5 in hand.

But once tomorrow night passes with its usual ephemeral grace, you may discover a new disease has taken root. Symptoms include a strong desire to revive the theatre as a means of community expression, writing in freeform metaphors about the effects of The Power Rangers on America's late nineties' class struggles, or the intense urge to stand motionless on stage in a gorilla suit.

We can help you with that.

Red Theater is coming to Omaha!

The first of several planned expansions into new markets, Red Theater Omaha is holding auditions for their inaugural August 14th show! Heading up the auditions are RT: Omaha's artistic director Jeremy Short and managing director Sara Tangdall, a former RT: Lincoln member. The details:

Wow! What a great beginning.

Thank you to all our friends for coming out on a freezing "feels like -3" winter night.
In addition to pics and video links from our performances, we hope to start profiling our cast members and previewing upcoming performances in this space.
